One of Scotland’s most photographed castles, Castle Stalker sits on a small tidal island and feels like something from a storybook. This peaceful location offers incredible photo opportunities and a glimpse into Scotland’s medieval past.
Dunstaffnage Castle
Located just outside Oban, Dunstaffnage Castle is one of the oldest stone castles in Scotland. Steeped in history and surrounded by woodland, it has connections to early Scottish kings and centuries of Highland heritage.
McCaig’s Tower
Overlooking Oban, McCaig’s Tower provides panoramic views across the town and out to the islands. It is one of the best viewpoints on the west coast and a great place to take in the scale and beauty of the region.

Long story short; we sincerely would recommend Tartan Tours. Special emphasis should be put on Jamie the guide who took us for the day. He was kind, funny and particularly knowledgeable , but at the same time really respectful towards our daughter who was 8 years old, engaged with her throughout the day. Remarkable how much information and stories he had to share with us. The tour itself is simply something to put on your bucket-list, all highlights on the Isle of Skye were visited but from slightly different spots (less touristy and busy, which is perfect!), with the grand finale Quiraing where we had the privilege of enjoying spectacular views and a wee dram. Jamie has given us one of the best tours ever…. And an unforgettable experience that will last with us for a long time. Hope we can stay in touch as well ..Posted on Gijs van WezenbeekTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Highly recommend Tartan Tours in Fort William! We took a tour with Jamie to Isle of Skye and it was an otherworldly experience. He was a great guide and got us through so much in a day without making it feel rushed.Posted on Becca BairdTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My family and I had a great day touring Isle of Skye with Jamie. He was a very friendly and knowledgeable tour guide and made the whole experience very relaxing and enriching for us!Posted on H ATrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We enjoyed every moment we spent with him and recommend him with no hesitation.Posted on Brian ElkinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My partner, father in law and I had the pleasure of engaging Tartan Tours on our recent trip to Scotland. We first spent a wonderful half day on a local tour of Glencoe and the Fort William surrounds being guided by the very knowledgeable, easy going and kind Jamie who welcomed us dressed in traditional Scottish attire (kilt etc) and his comfortable and immaculate tour van. Jamie is a wealth of knowledge and throughout the tour he impressed us by his ability to recite important historical dates and details of the various sites that we visited. He also treated us to a dram of fine, single-malt whisky towards the end of the tour which my partner enjoyed sipping by a beautiful man made loch on an estate previously built by a wealthy Canadian businessman who emigrated to Scotland. Our second full day tour to the Isle of Skye and surrounds was just as good, despite the typical Scottish weather of drizzle and mist coming in throughout the day. Jamie kept us entertained and intrigued throughout the day as we visited more historically significant locations and landmarks. We stopped for lunch halfway through the tour and his recommendations for the various lunch eateries were much appreciated. Jamie is also an excellent driver and at no time did we feel anything but at ease and comfortable as we travelled along the winding country roads in the rain throughout the day. Jamie was even kind enough to stop at a local grocery store for us on the way back to our hotel so that we could purchase some items to take back for dinner. The three of us highly recommend Tartan Tours for anyone wishing to sit back and enjoy being taken on a wonderful journey through the Scottish highlands. Jamie is planning a visit to Australia in the near future and we hope to see him again and show him around our part of the world when he is here. Thanks again Jamie for making our visit such a memorable experience. Eddie, Karen and Ron :)Posted on Eduardo RodriguezTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our tour with Jamie to Loch Ness with all the stops along the way was amazing! Definitely the best part of our Scotland experience.Posted on Tami WindomTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Jamie is the best guide! I appreciated his quick response while booking. His kindness and generosity made me feel comfortable as a solo traveler. He was very knowledgeable, answering all my questions and providing recommendations. When we encountered an accident and heavy rain/fog, he seamlessly adjusted our plan. Would highly recommend a tour with Jamie if you want breathtaking views, interesting facts, good food, highland cows and an overall great time! As an added bonus, he played great music during the drive!Posted on Emily LubarskyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. HIGHLY recommend Jamie at Tartan Tours. He transported our group of six from Edinburgh to Glenfinnan and then led us on three amazing tours. He was a safe driver and very informative and humorous. He also has a few "off the beaten path" stops that are special. A bonny experience!Posted on Jeff FinkTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had seven trips with Tartan Tours over two weeks in the Highlands. Jamie, our driver was excellent: timely, informative, fun. We toured in comfort; we learned a lot; we ate some wonderful food. Jamie knew how to get in and out of the various tourist-filled venues. And he took us to some really cool places that we had not even heard about. FIVE STARS is not enough praise.Posted on Don HartonVerified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
